EPISODE 163 | The Link Between Health and Marketing (That No One Talks About)

July 8, 2025

No one talks about it…but your health might be the missing link in your marketing strategy. In this episode of The Hayley Osborne Show, I’m diving into the unexpected connection between how you feel and how you show up, in your content, your visibility, your energy, and your ability to attract the right clients through your marketing efforts.

Because if you’re exhausted, foggy, or running on fumes, no marketing and social media strategy in the world will land the way it should. But when you feel strong, clear, and aligned? Your marketing becomes magnetic. Oh LaLa this is a VIBE!

If you’re ready to show up with more confidence, because you might have been feeling stuck or a little flat, this conversation will give you a fresh perspective on why prioritising your wellbeing might just be the best business decision you make.

HAYLEY OSBORNE

Hello and welcome back to another episode of my awesome podcast. Today, I wanted to talk about a beautiful segue from last week’s episode, guys, I got so much love from last week’s episode. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for listening. And it was a different episode. So if you are tuning in for the first time, today, I’m Hayley. I am the host of the Hayley Osborne show. I’m glad you are here listening. It means the absolute world.

So today, the segue is, I want to talk about the link between health and marketing that no one talks about, because there is such a link when you are a business owner with health and marketing and how you show up. And so it’s just the most beautiful fusion, right? And you would know about how you feel with your health. So when I say health, I mean, what wellness, well, being, mental health, physical health, all the things to how you show up in your marketing. And so I wanted to break that down a little bit today. And I just Yeah, want to thank you so much for the messages that I got about the podcast episode, the messages I got about the blog. Oh my goodness.

If you haven’t read the blog, go and have a look. It is a vibe, and you might just be able to add something into your repertoire that you thought you knew was not possible because you’re busy during the day and the night like it’s just busy. So you know, habit stacking is how I make it work. Anyway, we digress, but I just want to paint a beautiful picture. It is Sunday morning. I have just bought a lovely smoothie into the office from my husband and my kids.

They love making smoothies together. I have a cup of peppermint tea here, and I’m like, ready to be in your ears before we head off. We do swimming on a Sunday for the little people, which I love, but oh my gosh, if you’re not getting in the water, like, who? Like, message me. It is so hot in the swimming center, like, I have to go, obviously, it’s winter time where I am now. I have to go fully layered, and then I end up just in a singlet, and I have to take my socks off because, like, and, you know, from my shoes I usually wear, like, I know this is such a I don’t know, the stigma or whatever, but my husband bought me some crocs for Mother’s Day.

But they’re not just any old crocs. I’ll take a photo and show you on my socials, and I might actually put it in the blog as a funny, haha, but they’re white, and they have these huge flowers on the side with pearls. They are so cool, but they’re house shoes, they don’t come out of the house with me, except for swimming, because then, like, it’s a bit wet in there, and all the things anyway, we digress. But that’s the vibe of today, and it’s lovely.

So the link between health and marketing that no one talks about is, is real, okay? Because if you are feeling, or you know, any kind of offness with your body, like your mind, your soul, okay, then it’s true. Like as a business owner, as a small business owner, you really start to like the ripple effect across how you show up in your marketing. So I think that we’re going to have a juicy and unexpected conversation that’s probably going to shift how you think about your business. And you know, if you’ve been in my world for a while, you know that I love marketing, you know that I love strategy. You know that I love messaging, content, like visibility, connection, it lights me up.

I want you to show up. But what you might not realize lately is that I’ve started to connect the dots between how we feel physically and mentally, and how that affects how we market our businesses and. It’s honestly something that no one talks about, or at least not in a way that feels real and relatable. So today’s episode is a bit of a behind the scenes pass into why your health is more connected to your marketing results than you think. Let’s get into it all right. So the first part is, why does it even matter? Why does it even matter?

And let’s be real. Marketing requires your energy, so much of your energy. And if you’re showing up on social media, if you are doing this recording a podcast, you would know that this is on Apple, so in your ears. It’s on Spotify in your ears. It’s also on YouTube, so you can view it. And then there’s parts and pieces of this that get cut up and they get put on social media. An element of this goes in my weekly email, and there’s a blog, right, so you know whether you are emailing your list as well planning your content or engaging with your community in any way, shape or form, whether it be virtually or in person, none of it works if you’re running on fumes.

All right, that is the short of it, and yet, lots of businesses are doing exactly that. So pushing through being super tired, creating from a place of I can’t be bothered. I don’t want to use the word burnout. I’ll just want to use different words to that, but creating from a place of fatigue, okay? And then feeling really scattered or foggy, instead of really focused and strategic, okay, and showing up really inconsistently, and then feeling guilty, and then feeling like you’re not doing enough, or feeling like you’re not enough, and then panic posting and all the things.

Does this sound familiar? I’ve been there, okay, especially in the last year, in parts and pieces, I’ve been there, and this is probably what’s evoked this, these conversations that I want to have around health and marketing, and what I’ve learned through both of my own experience and working with other business owners a lot, is that your health is not a nice to have. All right, your health is not nice to have. It’s the foundation that everything else is built on, including your marketing. And if that turns to shit, then everything else cascades and crumbles around it, all right, that I call a spade a spade, and I’m here to call a spade a spade, so it matters more than ever, right?

And then what on the flip side is that energetic ripple effect of wellness and how you’re feeling in your health. And here’s what I’ve seen firsthand, because I know and I found with my clients, this is what happens. Okay, so when you’re well, you’re energized, you’re rested, you’re clear minded, and therefore you speak more confidently. You show up more confidently. You show up more consistently, because your brain is firing on all cylinders.

You create from a place of inspiration, not from a place of desperation and force, because we all know that force content is a bit icky, okay? And you make bolder decisions, all right. So for the last like, you know, since I had my baby, who is 11 months now, as we’re recording this podcast, I obviously have been tired, and he’s been sleeping through the night for a long time, a really long time, probably since he was like, I don’t know, 12 weeks, I’d say very early, like the best one yet out of the three. But I, like, definitely, up until the last few months have been like, just treading water with my socials because I’ve got clients that need me.

Okay? So they come first. I show up for them, and then what’s left is my own marketing. And so that was a little lackluster. If you go through, you’ll see there’s a lot of podcast stuff, but not a lot of anything else, which you know, yeah. So when you are energized, rested, clear minded, healthy eating, well, having a lot of water, you create from a place of inspiration. All right, you make bolder decisions, and you take up space without overthinking. Is this gonna land? Is this good? Is this not good? Like you don’t doubt yourself, and you sell more with ease, okay, your ability to sell and to come across as like you’re glowing, and it’s just more beautiful, okay, and people can feel that energy. I got a message in my DMs, like, maybe a month ago to say that everything you’re doing.

You are glowing right now, and that maybe it was two months ago, actually, and that was kind of like the turning point, I feel like, from coming out of, like that baby bubble. And you know, why is that ripple effect of wellness? Like show in your marketing? Because you show up, you radiate, you sell better. You show up with ease and that kind of energy, it’s magnetic. It draws in your dream clients. Okay, there is such that the Segway, like the connection is just so strong, and it cuts through heaps of noise online, because you know that there’s, it’s noisy. It’s a noisy place. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t win at it, especially if you are radiating, especially if you are energized.

And that energetic ripple of wellness is like it flows on to everyone that’s watching you. And sorry, and it builds a real connection, because connection is everything. And you know, you know, I speak about this a lot, but it’s at the heart of really great marketing, when you can connect with your audience. Because we want to buy from humans. Humans want to buy from humans more and more and more, and we’re seeing this a lot with the rise of AI and all the things that there’s heaps of generic content out there, and don’t be that person.

Okay, radiate. Show up as you Okay. Oh, I just like thank, thank my lucky stars. I guess, like that, I got my degree before AI. I’ve been running this business for most of its life before AI, and I can safely say that I am so grateful for that that I you know, my best ideas come from my brain, and I use AI to research and birth them in a way, but it starts up here. And you know, that’s the essence of great marketing. So the third part is, when I started to actually make this connection, and I want to be really honest with you here, I didn’t always get it. And like most of us, you know, I, you know, used to believe that I just had to keep pushing harder, like work, longer, sleep less, do more in every single second of the day.

And like I said last week, yes, I do work a couple of late nights a week, and I’m fine with that. I know that that’s my routine, but the other nights are completely off, and it shows it’s just such a beautiful balance. That’s where I need to be right now, and that’s what I do. But thank God my children sleep through the night, and I am able to get a solid seven to eight hours sleep every night. Beautiful. So you know I used to believe, like, push harder, sleep less, do more. No, you need to just do the right things. And I realized that something did have to change, and I noticed that my content felt flat, and that, you know, I have to be really kind to myself as well, because I did have a baby, okay, and that’s a really big deal.

But I also, like, had my health and other two children to look after as well, so it didn’t really leave me much space to feel inspired at all. And I know that my audience could feel it as well, even if I was technically doing all the things okay? So I was just completely educating up until, like, a couple of months ago. So there was a lot of just, I’m gonna revert back to just teaching everything I know about marketing, and even if I was technically doing all the things I started now to make small, consistent shifts, and over the last couple of months, you probably saw that as well.

So, you know, I have created an element of white space in my week where it doesn’t get compromised at all, for rest, for kid time, for, you know, building in rituals that make me feel good in my skin, to moving my body daily. I, although I will say with this that I’m not rigid, and I think that that is probably one of the best strategies that I’ve put into place, is just not being so rigid about when and how I do things, because that doesn’t really work. So I aim for three to four movement sessions a week. Let’s just call it. But you know, moving my body is just, I just need it for my soul. And you know, then eating really well so that I feel energized, not depleted. And you know that when you’ve eaten well, you feel so much better, you think clearer, rather than, you know.

And I’m not saying that I ate poorly, because definitely not, but I do have a massive sweet tooth, so I ate really well, but I’ve completely, like, cut out sugar, because it wasn’t serving me, but it was like a kind of a chicken and egg thing, right? Because I love sweets. And so anyway, here we are. I have completely cut out sugar. No chance on this planet would I cut out coffee? Because I absolutely love my coffee, and I don’t get it out. I have the most beautiful coffee machine, and I buy beans that are roasted locally, and it’s just, it’s like a ritual, and it’s the same as the way I have tea. Anyway, I’m just trying to give you a little bit more of me in this podcast, because I feel like that’s what is needed, and I’m here for it now, and I know how to see how it’s going to play out.

So yes, my tea is just like those two drinks are like little rituals throughout my day that keep me grounded and keep me energized and keep me a good human and a good mum. But you know, from doing all these little things like I’m definitely sharper, I’m definitely much more creative, and my copywriting flowed so much easier. And you know, I think when you stop forcing it, you can start to really feel it. So the next part is, it’s enough about me.

This isn’t just about me. It’s about you. So you’re a business, you’re listening to this, and you’re feeling like your marketing is hard right now, I want you to pause and ask, how do I feel in my body and my mind? Do I feel clear, or do I feel cloudy and cluttered? Do I feel really energized, or do I feel drained? Do I feel really connected with my audience, or do I feel checked out, like I don’t want to be here, like I don’t want to be doing this, because if you’re trying to market your business from a place of depletion, it is going to feel hard, okay, you might second guess every caption, you might overthink every decision, and you are going to be fatigued before your content even hits publish, because when you are creating all the things and then, you Know, that’s energy, right, coming out, coming out, coming out.

But then if you are overthinking it, if you are second guessing everything that you write, that’s energy, energy, energy as well. So all of a sudden, you’ve like, stacked on two lots of like, energetic release that is probably like, weighing you down, like you have no idea. And it’s a subconscious thing that happens. We don’t actually realize that it’s happening. So you’ll be shocked how much easier your marketing becomes.

So what does this mean for the future of your business? So here’s what I believe with all my heart, that the future of personal brands, especially if you are in the health space, okay? If you are a health brand, it’s not about having a strong strategy, all right. It’s about building from the inside out. It’s about alignment, energy, clarity and feeling really good so that you can show up fully and lead super powerfully, okay, and while I am not going to announce anything just yet about what I’m doing. Let’s just say this topic of health and business, it’s only the beginning of what’s to come in my world.

So you had it first on the podcast, guys, and you know, final thoughts today is that, you know, I think that your health is your business strategy, and your energy is your brand, and feeling good, it’s not a luxury, it’s your edge, all right, so if you’ve been stuck in a marketing rut or wondering why that your content isn’t connecting like it used to when you first started out, maybe it’s not about Your captions or your funnel or like any of that stuff, maybe it’s about you and how you’re feeling at your core, because you can’t fake energy, and the good news is, is that you don’t have to.

Okay, that’s it. That’s all I wanted to say. So thanks so much for sticking around with me today and listening to this episode of The Hayley Osborne show.
