The exact thing you need to be doing to market your business right now

It’s such a funny topic this one. So many people come to me wanting all the answers. What should I do to grow my business Hayley? And the truth is, there is not one straight answer.

Because if there were, then everyone would be doing it right! Everyone would be killing it in business and no one would be looking for that winning formula.

There is, however, one thing I always say, and I’ll get to that in a minute, which is the whole point of this week’s podcast episode.

But first, I want to tell you action creates results. You get one rung on the board and that’s all you need to build your self-confidence to keep putting yourself out there and marketing your business. Am I right, or am I right?

Taking action on our goals is often easier said than done. But it’s the action that gets the results. Sitting on your hands won’t do anything.

Waiting for it to be just right is not taking action. Now don’t misunderstand what I’m saying here, I want you to have the right messaging and storytelling for you, but keep in mind it will change and evolve for the better the more you show up and you evolve as a business owner.

I know you’re probably thinking, “I want to show up as niche as I possibly can and have it perfect from the beginning”, and I’m still not there, which is why I’m waiting.

Believe me, by showing up, you will get the clarity you need to move through and find what the right fit is for you.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and forget about our aspirations and why we started our business in the first place. But the truth is, taking action towards your goals is essential if you want to achieve them. One of the best ways to motivate ourselves to take action is to break our goals down into smaller, more manageable steps. This can make the process less overwhelming and help us build momentum towards our ultimate objective.

So as an example, if you say you want to be on 24 podcasts before the end of the year, have you figured out how you are going to make that a reality? You need to break it down as a goal into smaller bite size goals.

This completely eliminates you sitting in front of your computer for hours on end staring at a blank screen. It’s done for you. You are really clear on what you need to say and how you need to say it.

What I’ve found is people don’t know what to say, but they have the goals and this is how you achieve them.

The next thing I would do is say right, on Mondays a the start of the month, I reach out to 6 podcast hosts and pitch myself as a guest using the Superhero Marketing swipe copy. This way, by the end of the year, I should have appeared on 24 podcasts. No, everyone will be a yes, but you’ve factored this into your goal planning which is awesome.

So you see how this just became easier. It’s no longer a pie-in-the-sky goal. It’s actually achievable and works.

I am so proud of my clients that do this and grow and I want the same for you. It’s honestly easy when you know how.

Setting achievable deadlines for these smaller steps can also be an effective way to hold ourselves accountable and ensure we’re making progress.

Another powerful motivation to take action towards our goals is to remind ourselves of why we set them in the first place. What is it that we hope to achieve? How will achieving this goal improve our lives or the lives of those around us? By keeping our “why” at the forefront of your mind, you’re more likely to stay motivated and committed to taking the necessary steps towards your absolute kick-ass dream outcome.

It’s important to remember that taking action doesn’t always have to be a solo effort – seeking out support from friends, family, or even a coach or mentor can also be incredibly helpful in staying motivated and on track towards our goals.

But this episode is about the exact thing you need to be doing to market your business right now, well, my friend, the answer is sharing your expertise.

Share your expertise like no one is watching.

Scream it from the rooftops.

Tell everyone you know about how great you are at what you do. This is your thought leadership.

Shout this as far as you can to as many people as possible.

But you need to do it in a truly organic way to have cut through and that is the winning formula. The more you can relate to people and story tell your way to getting there, the better results you will have hands down.

Your audience are smart and wise. They don’t want to be sold to. And they most definitely want to be able to relate to someone authentically.

Who you are?

What you do?

Who you help?

How you help people?

What makes you different?

What gives you that edge?

How will you transform your ideal clients’ lives?

I use a framework in my business called the MAPS framework. I built this and I stand by it proudly as it works and this helps my clients to go through the process of their market and audience, the problems they solve and the solutions they provide on how to get there.

If you don’t know what this looks like for you, it might be time to sit down with me and figure it out. There is power in this for you and for the clients you serve.

If you don’t know, or you just can’t land on articulating this well, then how are your potential clients going to know. It needs to be easy. It needs to be relatable, and you need to tell a story along the way. That’s where the gold lives.
