Hey, awesome human and welcome back to the Hayley Osborne show. I am very glad that you are here, and whether you are going for your hot girl walk, I hope you are multitasking, doing something while you’re listening to this episode, you could also be folding tiny human clothes. You could be having that third coffee. But I’m so glad that you are listening to me today.
This is the second to last episode of the year. Hello, and I’m excited because I get to have a little break from the podcast that has been going since the beginning of the year, which I’m so proud of. But in order for me to keep moving and keep this podcast awesome for you, it’s nice to have a little bit of a break and to be able to have some time off with my family over the holiday season, over Christmas and New Year and come back all guns blazing for you.
This is the place where we talk bold branding, where we talk marketing that is so magnetic, and where we where I help you to build a profitable business that feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside, because that’s really important, and we are as we’re wrapping 2025, in a few weeks, instead of another tactic heavy episode, I wanted to get a little bit real with you. So there’s no frameworks. There’s no like seven step plans today, just five hard, worn lessons this year that, you know, tattooed on my heart and my nervous system, and, you know, shaping up the Episode What 2025 taught me about business. And so strap in.
There’s five things I think that I want to talk about. If we digress a little bit, I don’t mind, but the first one I want to say is that obviously, at the start of 2025 I still had a newborn, and he was tiny. He was like four months old. And one thing that I have learned through this year is that even if the season had been a little bit slower than I’d hoped, especially, you know, because I do have small humans, and I love them to pieces, but they’re not setbacks. So the first little thing I want to talk about is that slower seasons aren’t setbacks.
Okay, they’re time for you to just be in the moment. And you know, I used to not panic when things were quiet, but I’ve always been really driven. And I think this year, I’ve taken more time to, like, stop and slow down and be in the moment, like, go to the playground every day where I can, with my kids, take them out, to get all their like, beans out, as I say.
And, you know, do a lot a lot more exercising myself to be able to reset my own nervous system and be calm and be a better mum. And I think that because of that, the strategic insight that I have built from that is, you know, my best offers and my clearest messaging and my, you know, million-dollar ideas didn’t come from hustling. They came from white space and understanding what really needed to happen inside of my business.
And there’s some big changes that are coming next year, which I’m excited about. And if I hadn’t had the time to sort of sit back and assess, like what was working and what wasn’t, I don’t think that I would have seen them as cool. As clearly. And so I think that being a little bit slower, especially at the start of the year, downtime, isn’t lost money or revenue. I think that it is great time for research and development and observation, as long as you’re not stuck in that like feed and like the scroll, the mindless scroll, that’s I’m healthy. I think it’s important and awesome if you are there for development. And knowledge is power.
And so what I’ve learned from that was going to take me into 2026, beautifully. And there’s no more not having any more babies. I have three. So it’s only like more time for me from here on in. And I think that this last year, I’ve had not a lot of time for myself, because I have been like I had my, you know, little guy who’s now 1615, months, 16 months, so he’s going into that toddler phase, which I’m so scared about, but grateful for no more crawling around the floor, and it’s just it’s all up from here. The second thing I want to say is I think that building a brand in the health and wellness space it takes more than content.
Okay, it takes a. Our leadership. And I think that what actually moves the needle is the energy behind what you’re saying and how you really showcase that to the world. So I think that this year, I did the inner work around that where there was, you know, the lived experience that I think I started being more tactical with my socials, which has helped me so much more, rather than just posting whatever. And there was so much more of a strategy around how I was showing up in my marketing, in my business. And as you would have seen, my niche into working in the health and wellness space like it wasn’t by accident.
They’re the businesses that I work with the most, and so it made sense to focus my messaging on that. And I think that it’s just taken more than content. Okay, it’s taken, like me, to embody that through and through, and I kind of already was, I just didn’t realize it. So it’s been nice to be able to follow that through. And I think that your brand is the felt sense people get when they’re in your presence, whether that be online or offline, and I’ve often got feedback, and I wanted to keep true to myself that you know, well, Hayley, you are the same in person as you are on your socials, as you show up in your stories, as you are on your podcast, as your words are on your website.
And that’s on purpose, because I want to be me, and I want to show up as that so as when I’m in the presence of anyone. And the third thing is that I think that momentum in the health space is a long biological game. Clients don’t book one on one or buy your course the first time they hear like balance yourself or balance your blood sugar, they book when they’ve watched you live and live it for nine to 18 months, and when they’ve seen you go through my your own season of whatever that is, your own comeback or whatever that is, that’s when people can align with you more. And you know, I kept showing up with the same message, the same standards, the same energy.
And the algorithm, I guess, eventually bowed, or whatever you want to say it, call it. And I think that when you start to build that trust, it compounds slower than content, but it can pound forever. So I think there is so much momentum in the long game, not the short game in business. And if you come to me and say, like Hayley, I want to make 500,000 in 12 months, and I’ll do whatever it takes, like, you know, the quick wins. You’re not my people. I’m here for building a long-term brand and a long-term vision. And I’m, I’m, you know, that’s, that’s kind of like my mantra. And I think that that compounds and compounds forever.
And people often say to me, like, how, you know, it’s easy for you. You’ve been doing this forever. It’s not easy for me. I’ve, like changed and reinvented myself so many times, and I’ve actually been really good at following the signs along the way of what I needed and what my business needed. And so I think that is definitely number three point of 20, like what I’ve learned in 2025-point number four is saying no is the ultimate hack. So I’ve said no to a few things this year, and every no that I’ve said no to has either to be protecting my sleep. I’ve because I’ve, you know, I’m with my children, protecting my family dinners, and I have inadvertently created more capacity for big months inside my business, and I think in the health space, especially your boundaries are your marketing, and people pay for the version of you who is calm, who is well resourced, and who is deeply trustworthy.
And I spoke on my social media and in my email a couple of weeks ago of like, no one wants to see you crying on your social media. Okay, people trust you when you are calm when you are aligned with who you say you are. They don’t. They’re not going to invest their money in a hot mess. So remain calm, resourced, strategic the way that you show up and that will inadvertently make you deeply trustworthy. So number four, I want. Say in 2025 is that saying no has been the ultimate hack for me, and I know that even on the weekends, like if there’s too much on, I have to bow out of some things, because I can’t do everything.
And also my kids need me. And so saying no is actually really powerful, and really, it’s nice to be home on a Saturday night doing nothing to just reset my energy. And speaking of Energy number five, I wanted to say that your energy is your most bankable asset. It’s not your strategy. Okay? So I finally, you know, accepted that if you’re not regulated as a business owner, you’re not going to build a brand that is that either, you know, I think that saying no out loud, no, no, KPIs are going to build themselves if you’re not calm and regulated. And I think that when I started prioritizing that, there was more leads, more opportunities, and creativity really kind of exploded from that, and that’s kind of what I’m taking into next year. And things started to convert better, to when I kind of realized that I needed to be niching more in the health space.
And yeah, I stopped. I stopped needing coffee after two o’clock in the afternoon. And I think that maintaining or managing my energy is the new time management for me, especially when I’m talking about, like, transforming businesses and things like that. So energy is definitely, like my most bankable asset right now. And people have noticed how I’m showing up and how calm I am. And I’ve always kind of been that way, but I think more than ever now, and as you know, like I have done a complete gut health reset, and I’ve shared that on my social media, if you’ve been following, and I feel like really amazing. And don’t get me wrong, like I do get tired at the end of the day, but I know that when I am cared for in myself, everything else thrives like a lot more, and it’s actually surprised me.
So I think if we can just close the lid on those five things now that what 2025 has taught me about business, they’re my top five things, and those things that are that I’ll be taking into next year.
