Hello, and a very warm welcome back into my world. I am glad that you are here listening to me, wherever you are, wherever you are, hopefully multitasking, doing all the things, and having a little bit of an upskill with me in your ears while you do those things, so welcome, welcome back to the podcast.
Today is interesting because you never know who’s watching you. Okay, and that’s the premise of today’s podcast episode, because you don’t, you never know who’s watching, you never know who you’re inspiring or the opposite, but more inspiring, right? Because that’s why we do what we do, that’s why we run our businesses, and that’s why we show up the way that we do, because you’re here doing what you’re you do as a business owner and a founder to make an impact, and you want to change people’s lives.
So I want to talk today about the woman who saw me walking down the street, and you know, I think this is a great opportunity.
If you’ve ever wondered if what you’re actually doing is making a difference, whether anyone’s noticing, whether anyone cares, and whether all the videos you’re recording, the posts that you’re writing, the conversations that you’re having are actually creating any impact at all, because I think that every business owner asks themselves this question.
I know that I certainly have over the years, and then you know something happened a couple of weeks ago that completely took me by surprise and not shifted my perspective, because I, I knew, and I know that the work that I do makes an impact, but it kind of made me think outside the box a little bit, so I received an Instagram comment, which, if you follow along my social media, you would have seen from someone that I’d never met, and she told me that she’d been sitting in traffic after work, and she saw me walking down the street.
She didn’t know who I was. She simply watched me walk past, and she wrote, I wondered where that fabulous woman was going. And it’s she also said, your outfit made me smile, and it reminded me to make bolder choices and have more fun, and to paint a picture, I had on a massive pink chill skirt that was from my waist to my shoes, I had on big chunky paint and leather black boots and a crop sparkly sequined jumper, obviously bright pink lipstick makeup on blah blah blah.
When I read the comment, that’s to paint the picture of what I was wearing, so it was very bold, it was very out there, and it was very fun, and I, when I was reading this comment, I sat there and I read it again and again and again, and I think in that moment I realized that being out there and bold and being visible and putting yourself out there, as we do all the time as business owners, reaches a lot further than just social media, and you know, we think how influence starts when we post, but it actually starts much earlier. It starts with how you carry yourself, it starts with how you walk into a room.
It starts with how you are confident, you know, and how you introduce yourself, and how you speak about your business, and how you treat people, all people, every single day. And I think that you know how we hold ourselves and how we enter rooms, we are always communicating something, and even those people that don’t run businesses and aren’t putting themselves out there in a really, you know, vulnerable way every single day.
I think we’re all communicating something, we’re communicating confidence, joy, passion, energy, leadership, or the opposite, which is, you know, hopefully not what we’re doing, but people notice far more than we think that they do, and I think we spend a lot of time worrying about what people are going to think and being judged, that we forget how many people were actually inspiring as well, and I think about that a lot, and I think about how many times have I actually admired someone from afar, someone at the airport, somebody while I’m having a coffee, or someone speaking at an event, someone online speaking at an event, and someone whose confidence made you think I would really love to be like that.
I think we all do that, and sometimes we do it without even knowing, and remember that you are that person for somebody else. And this message made me believe that, and I know that I. Want to be inspiring, and I know that I do inspire people, and I get messages all the time about the podcast, and you know, you really helped me and shift my thinking, and this is what I’m going to do this week, and I think it’s wonderful, and I think that’s why visibility really matters, and it’s not about more followers, it’s not about like posting more, it’s lovely to grow your audience, but it’s not about that.
I think that that’s all part of it, but it’s also the energy that you put out there, and that’s really important, and the decision that you have with yourself to fully occupy the space that you are in, and not wait, not shrink, not choose that outfit, not be bold, and honestly, when I chose the outfit, I love to choose beautiful things to wear, but the brief in my head was, okay, don’t forget I have three small humans, and I was going out for dinner to an event, and so that time in my house is crazy time, and so I had literally 10 minutes to get ready, so I was like, well, I’ll just have a shower when I get home.
I’m not going to worry about it. I need something that I don’t have to iron. I want to have comfy, warm shoes, so that writes off high heels. What can I wear? And I put that together very, very quickly, and I thought, why haven’t I worn in a while? So, you know, that’s part of it. And I never asked permission, I just do it, because I love feeling amazing. And it’s like, if not now, then when?
And that’s how I approach my marketing, that’s how I approach my business, that’s how I do the podcast, that’s how, if I don’t do it now, then when? If I don’t wear that now, then when? Now to paint another picture about me too. I’m not an active wear type of girl when I’m not active, so I wear my whole wardrobe, and I have my children all the time.
Okay, but I’m not an active wear girl when I’m not active, so I’m always getting dressed. Okay, I’m always thinking about what I’m gonna wear. I usually put it together the night before. In this case, with this event, I didn’t. I was, you know, in my own head about everything has to be done very quickly, because I was, you know, it’s hard enough to organize your outfit for the day, let alone two outfits, one for an event, so there we were, but I’m not an active wear girl, so I don’t do active wear when I am not training and when I’m not in the gym, and so choosing a bolder outfit, you know, was sort of a bit easy, because I always want to wear, I want to wear a ball gown, I want to wear my wedding dress to do my shopping, because when am I going to wear it again?
I’m actually going to cut it, that dress, so that I can actually wear it again, and I will wear it again, but more in a like Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker kind of vibe, which I love. I might change the top a little bit. Anyway, we digress, but you know, I think it’s important to become somebody that people are going to remember because of how you made them feel, whether it’s the conversation that you had or whether it’s the outfit that you wore that made them feel like they want to be more bold, more confident as well.

And people remember energy, so if I was wearing that outfit, but I had my head down and had my shoulders hunched, and I was sort of like walking, but I wasn’t, because I was like, right, I don’t have my kids, I’m gonna capture content, I’m gonna do the thing, I’m gonna be in the moment, I don’t give a shit who’s watching, and that’s the energy that I had, and I was smiling, and I had my shoulders back, and I was like, felt like I was walking on a cloud through the air when I got out the Uber all the way to the event, and people remember that, that’s the energy that I had, and I was very original about it.
I was very authentic about it, and I had conviction because I’m that person, and I’m going to be that person here on the podcast. I am that person in the words on my website. I am that person when I show up in my social media, and when I write my captions in my social media, I am that person, and I am that person in the room as well.
So that energy is reflective of me as a person. So, what do you have to do to get your own energy up? Is it, you know, change what you wear every day and get out of your activewear and become more of the person that you know that you can be, and just who gives a shit, you know?
Sometimes I’ll get dressed, ready for whatever happens during the day, even if it’s a work day and there’s no children around, and I will literally be ready to go, and I might have a suit jacket on, jeans, I’ve got my trainers on, that’s kind of like my vibe, I won’t leave the house, but you are putting yourself in a different headspace, okay? And that is conviction, that is authenticity, and that is energy, okay? And I think the thing that fascinated me, going back to this woman that made the comment, is she didn’t even know what I did.
Okay, she’d never read my website, she hadn’t listened to this podcast, she hadn’t seen any of my offers, she simply experienced how I showed up, and that made me ask myself, if someone can feel that way from walking past me, imagine what happens when your business starts reflecting the same confidence as in you, okay, as in my clients, and imagine what happens as when your website finally sounds like you, okay, because that’s what I do, that’s the person that I’m, I’m, I am through the line 365 happy days, but when your messaging finally feels like you, when your website finally feels like you when your business starts reflecting the same confidence that you know deep down that you have, and it starts to operate at a level that represents you.
People feel it, and they feel it before they even inquire, before they even buy, before they even meet you, and they feel it knowing that right when I need what this person has, they’re the person that I’m going to choose, and that’s exactly like what I help my clients create. People think that they come to me for marketing, and they absolutely do, but what we’re really building is a business that finally reflects who you already are. Okay, two things become aligned.
Your marketing becomes lighter, your content becomes easier. Okay. And then what happens after that is the sales conversions become easier, showing up becomes more enjoyable, because you actually like are stepping into yourself, and it becomes easier, and you’re no longer trying to be someone else, you’re simply being more of yourself, and people love you for you, because nobody can ever be you.
Now, don’t get me wrong, you know, there’s plenty of nutritionists, naturopaths, physios, chiros, allied health professionals out there, and so therefore that means that there’s no unique message. There isn’t across the line, through the line, every industry, there is no unique message, but what there is are unique messengers. There is nobody like you that delivers it the way that you do, just like there’s nobody like me that delivers it the way that I do. So, when you simply become more of yourself, and you understand who that person is. Everything becomes easier, you know.
It snowballs, shit rolls down hills in a really good way. And the ripple effect of that is that comment reminded me that you never know who’s watching, you never know who’s waiting for your story, who is gathering the pub, the confidence, and the courage to press publish. Who is, you know, deciding to launch because you did, because you showed up and you did it, and you gave them the confidence to be able to do that too.
Or who’s finally wearing the outfit, like that lady now is hopefully making bolded choices and wearing the outfits that she buys and has in her wardrobe, but has never left the house in them, or had the courage to be able to leave the house in them.
Okay, and you know it. Who is finally taking that opportunity, and that bull by the horn, speaking on stage, doing the thing, starting the podcast, because they watch someone else like you go first, right? And cut courage is courageous every single day of the week.
It is courageous, and that’s exactly why I love my VIP days absolutely so much, because yes, we are working on your marketing, we are working on your positioning, your messaging, offers content strategy, all the things, but underneath all of that, we are building a business that finally feels like you, and that’s beautiful, one that gives you confidence to show up every single day of the week, where people, excuse me, instantly understand your value instantly, and the marketing that you are putting out there reflects the level that you’re already operating at, or you’re growing like this, but your business stays here, and your outward-facing marketing stays here.
We don’t want that.
We want it to, you know, we need to get it to meet you where you’re at, and that is sometimes really hard.
